This Indiana play vs. Kentucky alone should have Hoosiers fans livid with Darian DeVries

Indiana fans are getting a familiar feeling amidst the Hoosiers' basketball struggles, and there is only one person to blame.

It seems like Indiana can't have two good things at once, as the football program has completely taken off while basketball is struggling to find its footing yet again. The Hoosiers seemed to have a great start to the season, even jumping into the Top 25 at one point. However, three losses in their last four games are making Indiana fans have a familiar feeling.

The Hoosiers had a huge matchup Saturday night in Lexington, taking on the Kentucky Wildcats. Two historic programs were battling head-to-head, and this was Indiana's shot to show really what they are made of. Taking an early lead, fans felt like the cracks the Hoosiers showed in their losses were sealed, but instead, a second-half breakdown proved otherwise.

Indiana ended up giving up the lead and fell by an embarrassing margin of 12 points to Kentucky, 72-60. This loss has fans feeling like they have seen this movie before and know what is coming. One fan even took to social media and called out the Hoosiers for simply not putting forth the effort.

The video above shows the play when Kentucky took the lead and did not relinquish it for the rest of the game. While the Hoosiers defended a layup attempt by Kentucky well, four Hoosiers at the basket could not seem to secure the rebound against one lone Wildcat as he went up for the layup and drew the foul call for the potential of a three-point play.

Darian DeVries needs to get the Hoosiers back on track before it is too late

The Indiana Hoosiers now have four losses on the season, which is more losses than the football team has had in the last two years, which is not something an Indiana fan felt was ever possible. There was hope that after Mike Woodson decided to retire last season that new head coach Darian DeVries would come in and bring Indiana basketball back to what it has always been.

However, cracks in this team are starting to show already, and Big Ten play has barely begun. This team is undersized and struggles defensively, but when the Hoosiers go on the road, the offense becomes an even bigger problem.

The Hoosiers have no problem scoring at home, as they dropped 113 points on Penn State on Tuesday, but against Kentucky, Indiana could only scrounge up 60 points. The Wildcats turned up the pressure on the Hoosiers, forcing their second-half collapse that erased any chance of an Indiana win.

DeVries needs to make some changes and do it fast, or else it is going to be another short season for Indiana that ends in early March.
