To say that Darian DeVries is starting over at Indiana is an understatement at this point. With Indiana being on spring break last week, DeVries didn't get a chance to talk to any of the players still left on the team after his hiring till this week about their plans for the season. Well, for some, he didn't need to because they had already entered the portal, but for others, the conversations must have been short based on the news that has come out this week.

On Monday, March 22, the basketball transfer portal opened and has been flooded with talent, a lot of Indiana talent there is. Last week, it was announced that Gabe Cupps and Malik Reneau would be entering the portal, and starting Monday, the dominos have continued to fall. First, it was Mackenzie Mgbako, then it was Jakai Newton and Kanaan Carlyle, then Myles Rice, and now the final player to play any sort of time in a Hoosiers uniform last season has entered the portal with Bryson Tucker making his announcement.

Tucker is the final domino to fall for DeVries as he will now have 12 available scholarships to offer to players in the portal to come and play for Indiana. Tucker held that final scholarship, but the former McDonald's All-American is choosing to find a new home.

As a freshman, Tucker played in 23 games for the Hoosiers this season, averaging 5.4 points per game and roughly 17 minutes a game. The Maryland native has a lot of room for growth in his game, and since he originally committed to play for former head coach Mike Woodson, the announcement doesn't necessarily come as a shock with a coaching change in Bloomington.

Right now, it seems like DeVires will only have his son Tucker DeVries on the court for the Hoosiers next season, as no announcements have been made about players choosing to play for Indiana instead of leaving. It has been a little over a week for DeVries, and he probably didn't expect to have to build the entire team from scratch, but hey, that is why he makes the big bucks.
