Sydney Parrish Leads Indiana Women's Basketball in win over Brown
Senior guard Sydney Parrish finished the home opener with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two blocks and three steals as she lead Indiana to a 82-60 win over Brown.
No. 25 Indiana opened the season struggling on both ends of the floor throughout the night but overcame a slow first half, where they went 15-31 from the field and 3-13 from the three point line.
Tennessee transfer Karoline Striplin added 17 points, Yarden Garzon had four 3-pointers and 16 points and Lilly Meister had 12 points for the Hoosiers, who shot 50% (30 of 60) from the field and went 17 of 20 from the foul line.
Here's what head coach Teri Moren had to say about IU's performance:
“It bothers me that I have to go into halftime and have those conversations about being disciplined,” Moren said. “We left a shooter off the strong side. We never do that. We switched a guard to five ball screen. We never do that. So it’s those little things that, if you don’t nip it in the butt real quick, those are the things that are going to get your ass beat, and our kids know that.”
"We are a lot better than what we showed today,” she said. “I think defensively, we weren’t great at times. We let up a bunch. They made 11 three-pointers total. They shot 36, but we can’t let up more than five a game, and playing Big Ten teams that’ll definitely hurt us down the stretch.”"
