Despite their 17-4 loss and losing the series over the weekend to the Maryland Terrapins, Indiana star outfielder Devin Taylor hit his 48th career home run breaking the school record for most homers in Indiana Hoosier baseball history.
Taylor surpassed Alex Dickerson, Mike Smith and Mike Sabo this weekend on the IU all-time HR list and put himself in true Hoosier baseball history.

“Just an incredible achievement of consistent, great play,” head coach Jeff Mercer said postgame. “You have to not only be right for a short period of time, or for a season, you have to be right for a long time.”
Only a junior this is most likely Taylor's last season with the Hoosiers. The preseason All Big Ten Player of The Year and All-American is projected to be a first round pick in this year's upcoming 2025 MLB Draft. Before arriving in Bloomington, Taylor was ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect from the state of Ohio and the nation’s 78th overall the class of 2022.

Indiana Baseball team is (21-18, 11-9 B1G) which is disappointing, as they were predicted to be well over 500 and selected as a Top 25 sleeper in the preseason polls.
While the team as a whole has been underwhelming, Taylor is batting .365 with 12 home runs and 42 RBIs for the season.
Indiana is currently in eighth place in the Big Ten. The top 12 teams in the conference will make the new expanded conference tournament format. The tournament takes place between (May 20-25, Omaha, Nebraska.
