A top-25 matchup pits a pair of Big Ten foes against one another in Bloomington on Saturday, as No. 9 Illinois (3-0) takes on No. 19 (3-0) Indiana inside of Memorial Stadium on Merchants Field.

It’s just the sixth ever top-20 matchup in Bloomington. It’s the first since 1987, when No. 15 Indiana defeated No. 20 Michigan and is already considered one of the biggest home games in IU's football program history.

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti versus Illinois head coach Bret Bielema is also a gift from the football gods. These are two of the most successful coaches, mixed with brash attitudes and overall toughness that makes this battle even better on and off the field.

Saturday’s matchup could have significant College Football Playoff implications, as both teams have much to play for heading into week 3. The two Big Ten teams still have a pair of marquee conference games against top teams on their schedule. Indiana will travel to No. 6 Oregon on Oct. 11 and No. 2 Penn State on Nov. 8 while the Fighting Illini will host No. 25 Southern California on Sept. 27 and No. 1 Ohio State on Oct. 11.

Illinois is bringing in the No. 4 defense in the country against Indiana's No. 7 offense but the real matchup will be on the other side of the ball. Illinois offense led by Luke Altmyer versus Indiana's defense led by Aiden Fisher and D'Angelo Ponds.

The atmosphere in Bloomington will be electric, the new and improved offense led by signal-caller and former Cal QB Fernando Mendoza is balanced and can score in fast and often. IU is averaging 591.7 yards and 52.0 points per game this season. As we predicted yesterday, we believe the Hoosiers will win but let's see what social media had to say ahead of Saturday's game.

D'Angelo Ponds versus Hank Beatty could be the most intriguing individual matchup on Saturday in Bloomington.

We've got top level recruits in the building folks! Four-star tight end Mason Oglesby from the 2027 class will be attending the game on Saturday night.

2027 four-star safety, Kaleb Elkins will also be in Bloomington this weekend.

It seems as Indiana's football program is finally getting and gaining respect of national media and the betting guru's out in Vegas as the Hoosiers are now up to 6 point favorites.

A final prediction for the primtime match up, CFB Home has Illnois beating Indiana by 7 points on Saturday night.
