Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods reported on Friday that former five-star wide receiver recruit is set to visit a multiple number of top programs which includes the Indiana Hoosiers.

According to reports from Chris Hummer of 247 Sports, Johntay Cook II left the Washington Huskies program after a brief stay and run in with the law, never playing a down in Seattle.

Johntay Cook II has also drawn interest from Arizona State, Houston, Oklahoma, BYU, Syracuse, Auburn, and Arkansas since entering the transfer portal.

Johntay Cook left the Texas Longhorns program back in November in a decision that head coach Steve Sarkisian described as “mutual.”

“Obviously, we’ve had some roster movement today with Johntay Cook moving on. We have nothing but respect for he and his family. Wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors,” Sarkisian said

The troubled young star wide out only played 125 snaps, recording eight catches for 125 yards. The Longhorns depth chart featured one of the most talented wide receiver rooms with Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, and Jordan Whittington leading the position room last season. In 2024, last season is was also an uphill battle, fighting for snaps with Matthew Golden, Isiah Bond, Ryan Wingo and D'Andre Moore ahead of him on the depth chart.

In February, Cook II was arrested twice this off-season in Texas, the first time in Fort Worth for theft and interference with public duties andthe second time in Pottsboro for possession of marijuana.

He ended his Longhorns two year career with just 16 catches for 273 yards and two touchdowns.

Johntay Cook II was ranked as the No. 29 player overall and the No. 3 wide receiver, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

In his high school career at DeSoto, he had 165 catches for 2,966 yards and 51 receiving touchdowns, including a monster senior season with 84 catches for 1,470 yards and 22 touchdowns and was a Class 6A Division II State Champion with DeSoto.

The 6’0, 185-pounder runs in the low 4.3's and is a similar wide receiver to Isiah Bond, a future top 100 NFL Draft pick in the upcoming 2025 draft. Cook truly has special talent and the potential to be an All-American if he "gets right" off the field and keeps his head on straight.

If Cook II lands with the Hoosiers he would be the most talented prospect and highest rates recruit in the programs history.
