Someone may want to remind Barry Odom of Purdue's football record last season. The Boilermakers ended the season at the bottom of the Big Ten yet again with a 1-11 record and went 0-9 in conference play. Even though Purdue leads in the football series, the Boilermakers have struggled for many seasons on the football field.

Odom was announced as the newest head football coach for the Boilermakers back in early December. However, when Odom spoke to the media this week to talk about the incoming class of players from the transfer portal and high school, the new head coach decided to throw some shade towards Indiana.

"A couple nights ago when Purdue beat the opponent in red ... we walked over a group of high-level recruits," Odom said in his press conference.

The opponent in red? Last season, Indiana made it to the College Football Playoff, was one of the final undefeated teams in the country, and had their best season in program history. Purdue was only able to beat Indiana State and then fell to Notre Dame in embarrassing fashion, and Oregon State to close out non-conference play, and didn't win another game the rest of the season.

A little bit of rivalry is great, especially coming from a new head coach, Curt Cignetti certainly did that when he was introduced at an Indiana basketball game, but Odom may want to get his feet wet a bit in the Big Ten before throwing around gasoline on rivalry fires.

Purdue has a lot of ground to make up on the football field while Indiana seems to be soaring. Hey everyone, loves a healthy rivalry, so and Odom just might be trying to get his side into it.
