Way Too Early Big Ten Quarterback Rankings
By Dante Pryor
Next season begins a cavalcade of change in the Big Ten and college football. The conference begins as an 18-team league with an opportunity to play for a big team in a 12-team college football playoff. For any program that wishes to make the playoffs, you need elite quarterback play.
There are admittedly some questions about the quarterbacks in the Big Ten. Some are new to the conference via the transfer portal. Others are coming off major injuries, while others are first-time starters. There are some programs that have not decided on a starter. How do they rate?
Here is a way-too-early Big Ten Quarterback Ranking:
18. Gavin Wimsatt/Athan Kaliakmanis: Rutgers
Gavin Wimsatt oversaw the 124th-ranked pass offense in college football, while the quarterback he competes with, Athan Kaliakmanis, oversaw the 123rd passing offense. The only pass offenses worse than Rutgers and Minnesota were Iowa and Nebraska. That is not a harbinger of good things for the Scarlet Knights pass offense. That said, those anemic pass offenses did not keep either Rutgers or Minnesota from making a bowl game.
