Last season, the Indiana Hoosiers men's basketball team put up a putrid 72.3 PPG, which ranked 215th out of 363 qualifying schools in terms of offensive output.

While offense is obviously not everything and there are many more important statistics to bare in mind while reflecting on what went right and what went wrong throughout the course of a season, this individual fact stands to confirm that IU desperately needed some serious reinforcements for 2024-2025.

Flash forward through what has been a dominant offseason run thus far for Mike Woodson, and this newly constructed squad looks primed to squash those measly metrics from a season ago. But with so many guys needing the ball in their hands and so many mouths for the table setters to feed, how will the statistical allocations play out?

Here is how things could shake out in terms of the numbers for an Indiana team that should be more than ready for redemption.

*This is based on a 10-deep rotation, and would not include inevitable contributions from Anthony Leal, Gabe Cupps, and/or the 13th member of the team who has yet to commit. You already know that each of them will get some run, but this is just based on a 200-minute per game projection*

STARTERS

Myles Rice = 27 MPG | 12.5 PPG | 2.5 RPG | 4 APG | 0 BPG | 1 SPG | 45% FG/35% 3/80% FT

Trey Galloway = 25 MPG | 7 PPG | 3 RPG | 3.5 APG | 0.5 BPG | 1.5 SPG | 47.5% FG/32.5% 3/65% FT

Mackenzie Mgbako = 29 MPG | 15 PPG | 5 RPG | 1.5 APG | 0.5 BPG | 0.5 SPG | 42.5% FG/37.5% 3/80% FT

Malik Reneau = 29 MPG | 15.5 PPG | 6.5 RPG | 2.5 APG | 0.5 BPG | 0.5 SPG | 52.5%FG/38.5% 3/70% FT

Oumar Ballo = 25 MPG | 10 PPG | 10.5 RPG | 0.5 APG | 1.5 BPG | 0.5 SPG | 65% FG/0% 3/60% FT

BENCH

Kanaan Carlyle = 19 MPG | 8.5 PPG | 1.5 RPG | 2 APG | 0 BPG | 0.5 SPG | 41% FG/34.5% 3/80% FT

Jakai Newton = 7 MPG | 2 PPG | 1.5 RPG | 1 APG | 0 BPG | 0.5 SPG | 45% FG/30% 3/72.5% FT

Bryson Tucker = 17 MPG | 6 PPG | 3 RPG | 1 APG | 0.5 BPG | 1 SPG | 51% FG/29% 3/70% FT

Luke Goode = 16 MPG | 5.5 PPG | 3.5 RPG | 1 APG | 0 BPG | 0.5 SPG | 55% FG/42.5% 3/85% FT

Langdon Hatton = 6 MPG | 1.5 PPG | 2 RPG | 0.5 APG | 0.5 BPG | 0 SPG | 70% FG/33% 3/70% FT

The Mgbako-Reneau combo should be the top dogs in 2024-2025, and although Reneau's individual statistics may not jump a ton that is not to be mistaken for stagnation. That is simply a product of so much re-tooled weaponry that Mike Woodson and his staff have surrounded the super southpaw with. Mgabko should take a step forward simply based on the fact that he should feel a much more heightened sense of comfort in his sophomore season.

Past them, Myles Rice will be the primary offensive option in the backcourt, and will be looked upon to provide some perimeter pop and playmaking pizzazz. He will have help setting the table from his starting backcourt mate Trey Galloway, who should combine with Jakai Newton, Bryson Tucker, and Gabe Cupps to offer an intriguing corps of quality perimeter defenders to throw at the opposition's top scoring threats on the outside.

Oumar Ballo should single-handedly control the boards, and we should see a lot of minutes with Reneau getting the run as the backup center over Langdon Hatton. Kanaan Carlyle and Luke Goode will offer a tandem of threats from outside, with Carlyle obviously possessing a much more dynamic offensive skillset than the sharpshooter Goode. Those two will likely be looked to as the two main sources of offense off the pine next year, with some tertiary assistance from Tucker.

All things considered, this is a stacked squad with a lot of guys who have the potential to put up big numbers in a number of statistical categories on any given night. When you look at this roster from 1-12, where do you see each player making the most contributions and who do you see leading the team in each statistical category?

Go Hoosiers!
