Mike Woodson and Indiana Men's Basketball decided to spurn the NIT and focus on the roster. With so much uncertainty about who is staying and who is going, Woodson and his staff must refocus their efforts on high school recruiting and the transfer portal.

Changes to the Roster

Anthony Leal, Trey Galloway, and Malik Reneau have already committed to return next season. Payton Sparks, CJ Gunn, and Kaleb Banks are in the portal, with Sparks returning to Ball State. Guard Xavier Johnson and forward Anthony Walker are both out of eligibility.

Neither Kel'el Ware nor Mackenzie Mgbako have announced their intentions to return or enter the NBA Draft. Both do have the option to enter their names in the draft and commit or withdraw by June 16th. The best aspect about the NBA Draft is they can participate in the entire process and decide to return to school if they don't get the draft grade they want.

What IU Needs

Woodson and his staff need to watch the film of Dwight Howard's Orlando Magic to make their run to the NBA Finals. If they want to play inside-out, they need shooters. Also, Gabe Cupps is the only scholarship point guard on the roster. Although Cupps improved, he's not ready, and the Hoosiers need an experienced point guard on the roster.

Indiana finished 11th in the Big Ten in three-point shooting and outside the top 200 in the country. Hoosier fans might not like this but they need to play like Purdue, who led the NCAA in three-point shooting.

Here are six players IU need to target in the portal:
