Will Ohio transfer Kurtis Rourke start this fall? Not so fast says head coach Curt Cignetti.

As many head coaches do during this time of year, Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti is pretty hush-hush about the quarterbacks in spring practice. While he's tight-lipped about the rotation of quarterbacks getting reps, he's been impressed with Ohio transfer Kurtis Rourke.

“I’m not going to tell you about the quarterback rotation, and from here on out, I may not really be very open about it, although I am impressed with Rourke’s progress,” Cignetti said. “He just looks like, the last two practices, he’s been functioning, looking like a high-level quarterback.”

While Rourke is a veteran with tons of experience, whoever wins the job has to earn it. Cignetti vows the starter earns the job on the field. That could mean that it is Rourke's job to lose, and he could lose it if he performs poorly or another quarterback outshines him.

Let's take a closer look at the quarterbacks vying for the starting job this fall:

Lowery did not see the field as a redshirt last season. The Ohio native was a three-star recruit with Power Five offers from Stanford and Iowa State. He's a dual-threat quarterback with room to grow as a passer and is not likely to see the field this fall. However, he could see playing time in the future as he develops.
