IUWBB Looks Ready to Make a Statement
Losses are never fun to experience, but sometimes they turn out to be blessings in disguise. After stomping Fairfield 89-56 in their NCAA tournament opener, it looks like that simile applies to Indiana's loss in their Big Ten tournament opener to Michigan a few weeks back.
The entire squad was on point last night, but it was Sara Scalia whose (green) light shined brightest throughout the evening. She dropped 27 points and splashed 5 of her 10 attempts from beyond the arc. The saucy senior had Assembly Hall buzzing, and Teri Moren's team as a whole put the rest of the field on notice through their pure domination from start to finish in this one.
This is the fourth consecutive NCAA appearance for the Hoosiers, with each of the prior three runs falling short of the ultimate objective. Could this be the year that they finally get over the hump?
Over the course of the past few seasons, the success of this team has been vaguely overshadowed by the likes of Caitlin Clark and the volatile state of the IU men's program. Through their sheer dismemberment of the Fairfield Stags (just their second [and final] loss of the year). this group of ballers made it clear that they are not to be overlooked.
Each and every player should be motivated to not only win, but there should be an extra layer of incentive to absolutely annihilate each and every opponent that they encounter. It has been awhile since Indiana basketball has been on top, and it would appear that the Hoosiers are intent on changing that narrative.
This might be the big dance, but it is clear that these ladies mean business. Indiana women's basketball looks ready to make a statement, and we are talking about a statement with an exclamation point to punctuate (!).
Keep going IUWBB!
