Indiana's running back room is loaded. Cignetti and his offensive staff brought five running backs via the transfer portal, including three from James Madison. Former running backs Trent Howland and David Holloman decided to test the transfer market. It's hard to believe that Cignetti, Shanahan, and the rest of that staff would not have been able to find any use for Jaylin Lucas.

The 5-foot-9 Louisiana native was one of the most versatile players in the transfer portal. Lucas is listed as a running back but can line up in the slot and return kicks. Today's game covets speed in space, and Lucas gives any team that.

While his brother, wide receiver Ja'Khi Douglas, plays for Florida State, it's hard to imagine that Cignetti and the Hoosiers could not have found a place for someone as versatile as Lucas on the roster.
