Indiana Football Spring Game: When is it?
By Dante Pryor
Curt Cignetti is changing the game in Bloomington. The former James Madison football coach has changed the way Spring Practice is run and is bringing back the Spring Game. They've held open practices but no game. The game takes place on April 18th at 8 p.m.
Cignetti has quickly gotten to work turning around the culture and expectations of Indiana football. He and his staff signed 33 players, including 16 transfers. In addition to the transfers, Indiana has several high school signees who are early enrollees. Also, Cignetti and his staff convinced several players to return to campus.
Who should we expect to see?
While it will be interesting to see how well Ohio transfer Kurtis Rourke performs, eyes will also be on Greenwood, Indiana native Alex Cherry. While he's likely not to play this year, Cherry's the future of the program and it will be interesting to see how he looks early on.
While the Spring Game is more of a showcase, it will be interesting to see how Donaven McCulley and Elijah Sarratt look like catching passes from Rourke. On the other side of the wide receivers are the defensive backs. Cignetti and defensive backs coach Ola Adams might look to add defensive back help when the spring portal opens.
There are more details to come, and there is no word as to if or when the game will be televised.
