Shooting Guard Steve Alford

Guard was a bit tougher, but Steve Alford is Indiana's second-leading scorer. He is also second all-time in steals. Also, you love having players on your team who are coach's sons. Alford is the type of player that knows how to practice and prepare. Few players had as sweet a stroke from the outside as Alford.

In addition to being Indiana's second all-time leading scorer, Alford is second all-time in steals. He was part of Indiana's 1987 National Championship team. Alford's accolades began in high school, where he was the 1983 Indiana Mr. Basketball. He was a two-time consensus All-American in 1986 and 1987. Alford was also a three-time All-Big Ten First Team.

Alford gives this fantasy team a shooter to kick the ball out to when teams attempt to play zone or double our big men in the post. When Isaiah Thomas penetrates, Steve Alford is the perfect catch-and-shoot player who can knock down the open jump shot.

The Franklin, Indiana native is also a player you want out on the floor late in games. Alford is one of the best free throw shooters in the history of college basketball, so he can ice games from the charity stripe if need be.
