Indiana Basketball: 3 Keys to Victory against Rutgers
By Dante Pryor
Play a 40 Minute Game
Indiana needs to play a complete game. They have yet to do so against a high-level opponent. The Hoosiers played well for 3/4 of the Kansas game, then fell apart late. They went back and forth against Ohio State before putting together its best 15 minutes of basketball all season. IU played tight games against lesser opponents several times this season.
"I just think you've got to have a mental toughness about yourself," Indiana coach Mike Woodson said. "Just like we played the last 15 minutes of (Saturday's) ballgame, that's what you got to take to the road. Somehow, I got to get our team understanding that. You got to do that for 40 minutes, not just 15 minutes."
Indiana needs to play sound basketball like they did against Ohio State, committing just four turnovers. They need the energy and fire they played with against Kansas. The Malik Reneau, who showed up in the second half against Ohio State, must show himself for an entire game. Xavier Johnson needs to play like he played against the Buckeyes.
If they can get a full 40-minute effort on the road, they should get the win against Rutgers.
