Second-Round Redemption
Indiana women's basketball won its first-round game against the Fairfield Stags on Saturday afternoon. Sara Scalia scored a school record 27 points in Indiana's first-round home win. All-American Mackenzie Holmes scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds as four of five starters scored in double figures for the Hoosiers.
The Stags made it a game early but Indiana's size and depth allowed them to pull away in the third quarter, eventually leading to a blowout victory against #25 Fairfield, ending their 29-game winning streak and season.
The Hoosiers now face the Oklahoma Sooners in the second round of the tournament. Indiana has the size and length advantage but the Sooners are battle tested and can put the ball in the basket. Assembly Hall will be rocking Monday night as the Hoosiers attempt to reach the Sweet 16 for the first time in three years.
