While Indiana Football has had seven players enter the transfer portal since the spring game, cornerback Kobee Minor entering the portal is a huge blow to a secondary needing talent and depth. Minor had 29 tackles and four pass breakups, earning an All-Big Ten Honorable Mention selection last season—Minor looks to play football elsewhere.

Minor's brother Daryl entered the portal the day after the spring game. Both Kobee and Daryl transferred from Texas Tech. Minor, a fifth-year starter in the secondary, was expected to be a key piece in Cignetti's and cornerbacks coach Rod Ojong's defense.

The possibility exists that Minor wants to test the portal waters and could return to Bloomington, though that is unlikely. He entered his name in the portal one day shy of the spring window closing.

Minor's departure gives Cignetti and the Indiana defensive staff six scholarship defensive backs. That isn't enough to start the season.

Fifth-year senior Cedarius Doss, junior Jamier Johnson, redshirt junior JoJo Johnson, junior Jamari Sharpe, freshman Dontrae Henderson, and freshman Josh Phlioston are the scholarship corners left. Doss recently announced his transfer from Austin Peay to IU. Cignetti and his staff will likely look into the transfer portal for defensive back help.
