ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum was not happy or impressed with the College Football Playoff committee ranking the Indiana Hoosiers so high (No. 9) seed overall in the country on Tuesday night.

The initial playoff rankings were released Tuesday night and Finebaum threw shots at college football’s cinderella story, Indiana, which was slotted at No. 8 in the initial rankings despite being 9-0.

The ESPN college football analyst said during ESPN’sFirst Take on Wednesday morning that some teams that “haven’t accomplished anything” were unjustly rewarded in the first Playoff rankings, and that really bothered Finebaum

“I know I’ll upset all the folks in Bloomington, but I’m not sure what Indiana has done. They’ve beaten some very mediocre non-conference teams, they’ve blown out a couple other ones,” said Finebaum. “And also, Penn State, which has done absolutely nothing this year. Their best wins are over Illinois and a five-loss Southern Cal team.”

"I'm impressed by Curt Cignetti. He's a fantastic coach. It's a great story. But it's absurd to give them too much credit," he also said on the Paul Finebaum Show

Indiana host the 2023-24 national champions in Bloomington this week as the Michigan Wolverines come to town on Saturday in a pivotal B1G matchup.
