ESPN College GameDay made its way to its second Indiana game of the season as the No. 5 Hoosiers visited the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes. With former Indiana coach Lee Corso and former Michigan Wolverine player Desmond Howard in tow, the Hoosiers had two obvious supporters at the desk.
However, when the cast made their picks for who would win the big-time Big Ten matchup, one of the ESPN talents surprised both Buckeye and Hoosier fans as he picked Indiana to upset Ohio State.
Who other than Pat McAfee would stir the pot and pick the visiting team to win for the first time all season?
ESPN College GameDay picks for Indiana vs. Ohio State
- Desmond Howard: Indiana Hoosiers
- Nick Saban: Ohio State Buckeyes
- Kirk Herbstreit: Ohio State Buckeyes
- Pat McAfee: Indiana Hoosiers
- Justin Fields: Ohio State Buckeyes
- Lee Corso: Indiana Hoosiers
The boisterous and slightly infamous ESPN personality is known for his high energy during the early-morning show but his choice of the Hoosiers over the Buckeyes shocked even those sitting next to him.
Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, and celebrity guest picker Justin Fields, yes the former Ohio State quarterback, all sided with the Buckeyes just moments before kickoff.
Entering the game, the Hoosiers were on a 29-game losing streak against the Buckeyes. A losing streak that spanned more than 13,000 days as one College GameDay sign pointed out. However, Indiana was 10-0 entering the matchup and Ohio State had already lost to Oregon earlier in the season to enter the game at 9-1.
The Buckeyes and the Hoosiers were scheduled to play at noon ET on FOX. The two teams were vying for a spot in the conference championship game – which would either be a rematch between Ohio State and No. 1 Oregon or the fourth-ever game between the Ducks and the Hoosiers.
