Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza recently transferred to the Hoosiers last month and was recently named a top ten quarterback in the 2025 transfer portal rankings by On3 Sports.
Mendoza ranks fifth in the On3Sports transfer portal rankings for 2025 among quarterbacks behind Carson Beck, Miller Moss, John Mateer and Kaidon Salter.
The former Cal quarterback Fernando Mendoza threw for 3,004 yards with 16 touchdowns and six interceptions in 11 games for the Golden Bears in 2024.
Over two seasons at Cal under Justin Wilcox, Mendoza completed 66.5 percent of his passes for 4,712 yards, 30 TDs and 16 picks in 20 games. He also ran for 197 yards and four scores on the ground.
Mendoza was ranked the No. 3 quarterback in the transfer portal, he also had offers from Georgia, Miami (FL), Missouri and UCLA.
Mendoza's younger brother, Alberto, is a redshirt freshman quarterback at Indiana this season. He played in one game, completing his only pass attempt for 6 yards in a Sept. 6 win against Western Illinois.
There is a lot for Hoosiers fans to be excited about after this past historic season finishing 11-2. getting ready for the 2025 season, Even though we are along way from the seasons start in September Mendoza replacing Rourke to go along with the returning starters, new transfers and incoming freshman there is a lot to be excited about in Bloomington for 2025.
The 21-year-old Mendoza has two years of eligibility remaining.
