Indiana is in the middle of yet another magical football season, but at this point, it should not be looked at as magic, but true talent. The Hoosiers are hoping things end differently this season, this one ending in a National Championship win, and there is a key to all of it.
In the offseason, head coach Curt Cignetti made good work of the transfer portal after losing a good portion of the 11-2 team he had last season. One of the biggest additions he had was quarterback Fernando Mendoza from Cal, who not only came to Indiana, but brought his little brother Alberto Mendoza, who is also a quarterback.
As the month of October comes to an end, On3 is giving its opinion on the best and worst things throughout the month. When it came to the title of best transfer, of course, it went to Mendoza, who is currently in the midst of competing for the Heisman Trophy this season, as well as leading his team to a National Championship.

So far this season, Mendoza has led the Hoosiers to an 8-0 start for the second year in a row. He has thrown for 1,923 yards and 24 touchdowns with only three interceptions, which is one of the best ratios in college football. He has also gotten it done with his legs running for 196 yards and three rushing touchdowns.
Indiana fans have seen all season long how great Mendoza is, but it was really not until the Oregon game that the media began to see it, too. Mendoza was the catalyst that helped get the Hoosiers past the Ducks for their biggest win in program history.
So, while On3 is just now noticing the greatest of Mendoza and what he has done for the Hoosiers, Indiana fans have seen it all season long and are ready for what he is going to do the rest of the way.
