The Indiana Hoosiers defeated the Indiana State Sycamores on Friday at Memorial Stadium on Merchant Field in a blowout victory of 73-0. This was the most statistically one-sided game in the history of the in-state rivalry as the Hoosiers now lead the series 8-0 in the series all-time.

The single-game scoring record scoring record was 77 set by the Indiana Hoosiers last season against Western Illinois but their 73-point margin of victory tonight ranks as the second-largest home win in program history.

Indiana had 680 yards of total offense, led by Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza. The Hoosier quarterback set a single-game completion percentage record tonight with a 95% completion percentage. Mendoza almost threw a perfect game, going 19-for-20 passing for 270 yards and five touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown on the ground.

Mendoza's 95% completion percentage set a program record that was set by Peyton Ramsey, who completed 13 of 14 passes (92.9%) against Eastern Illinois on Sept. 7, 2019, according to the Indy Star.

His brother Alberto Mendoza played in the second half, completing 6 of 9 passes for 104 yards and two touchdowns.

Omar Cooper, Jr. had one of the best games by an IU receiver in the history of the program. The senior wide-out had 10 catches, 207 yard, and four touchdown performance.  The four receiving touchdowns tied James Hardy for the most in a game by a Hoosier, and the 207 yards were the seventh most in a game.

Indiana out gained Indiana State 680-77 total, and the Sycamores didn't cross the 50-yard line until the first play of the fourth quarter. The Hoosiers ran for 301 yards, making it their third consecutive game rushing over 300 yards on the ground.

The defense shutdown and shutout Indiana State, as their quarterback Keegan Patterson went 8-for-16 passing for 13 yards, while third string QB Brock Riddle completed 3-of-4 passes for 25 yards.

As a team ISU ran for 39 yards on 31 attempts with no turnovers on offense, this loss makes it worse as their was no fluke just a solid butt kicking from the Hoosiers.

Indiana (3-0) will host No. 9 and (2-0) Illinois next Saturday at home to open Big Ten play in one of the biggest home games in recent memory for the Hoosiers program.
