The Indiana Hoosiers return to Assembly Hall tonight after a brief trip away to Iowa that the team wishes they could forget. After winning five straight games, the Hoosiers dropped a big one against Iowa that could have really helped boost their resume for the NCAA Tournament at the end of the season.
The Hoosiers will take the court against No. 19 Illinois, who is also coming off a tough loss at home against USC, in which they were missing their star freshman Kasparas Jakucionis. It is unknown whether or not the Fighting Illini will have Jakucionis tonight against the Hoosiers. It is unknown whether Indiana will have leading scorer Malik Reneau, who is still sidelined with a knee injury.
Even though he is questionable, it seems unlikely that Reneau will be back and ready to go for the Hoosiers tonight. When he was injured, head coach Mike Woodson made it very clear that he was uncertain about when his leading scorer would be back on the court.
Indiana and Illinois will hit the court in what is a big game for both teams. These teams are very familiar with each other as Indiana just edges out Illinois in the all-time record with 96 wins and 92 losses.
