After a disappointing first season, Indiana head coach Darian DeVries is doing everything he can to ensure the Hoosiers don't narrowly miss the NCAA Tournament again next season. DeVries has been a sniper in the transfer portal, bringing in a lot of top talent, and there could be another one on the way.

Former Indiana guard Myles Rice is one of many players hoping the NCAA continues to move forward with the five-for-five model, where one can have five years of eligibility, as long as they play those five seasons. This would not count with redshirts or medical waivers, but would give players that extra year of eligibility they want.

While waiting to see if this model takes effect next season, many seniors in college basketball entered the transfer portal before it closed in hopes of being able to either return or head ot a different school. Rice did just that, but it seems that if he can return to college basketball, it may not be at Maryland.

Indiana could see a return from Myles Rice is five-for-five model takes effect

It seems like the five-for-five model is gaining momentum in the NCAA, and if that is the case, many players could get that extra year of eligibility. Rice would be one of those players, and with his latest social media post, it feels like he could be hinting at a return to Indiana.

In the post Rice made with the caption 'the return is coming...' Rice has highlight videos of his college play, and it was all his clips from Indiana, nothing from his time at Maryland, or even Washington State. Now, Rice only appeared in 17 games for the Terrapins with an injury cutting his season short.

Rice could make a return to Indiana if he wanted to, and it could be a great thing for the Hoosiers, who need some help at the guard position. DeVries brought in some help at the guard position with Markus Burton, Bryce Lindsey, and Jaeden Mustaf all coming in the position, but Rice certainly brings a great scoring ability.

In his one season at Indiana, Rice averaged 10.1 points per game, 2,.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists. Rice was a favorite at Indiana in his lone season, especially when injuries plagued the Hoosiers in the 2024-2025 season.

Rice is in the portal, and if he gets another year of eligibility, don't be surprised if he ends up back at Indiana.
