Hoosiers' defenders Aiden Fisher and D'Angelo Ponds named FWAA All-Americans

Indiana linebacker Aiden Fisher and defensive back D’Angelo Ponds were recently named All-Americans by the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA).

Fisher is a First Team All-American selection, and IU defensive back D’Angelo Ponds is a Second Team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America.

Fisher and Ponds both transferred from James Madison with head coach Curt Cignetti. Fisher, a 6-foot-1, 233-pound linebacker, who leads the Hoosiers with 108 total tackles, which ranks third in the Big Ten Conference.

Ponds had 53 tackles, nine pass breakups, 4.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions, both Fisher and Ponds were named named first-team All-Big Ten.

Newly named All-American linebacker Aiden Fisher had this to say about facing the Irish in tomorrow's game.

"“First thing is you just want to keep everyone in front of you,” says Indiana junior linebacker Aiden Fisher. “They do a great job with their rushing attack, so our biggest thing is the same thing we have played with all year is great angles.”"

And Fisher on his game and what he wants to bring to the table for Indiana “Every week I want to prove myself,” Fisher says. “That’s going back to high school, going back to when I was in the transfer portal. None of these (playoff) schools called me, none of these schools wanted me to play for them. I carry that every (game). This (game) is no different. That will be with me.”

The Indiana Hoosiers are 11-1 and ranked No. 8 in the College Football Playoff rankings. The Hoosiers are seeded 10th in the College Football Playoff and play seventh-seed Notre Dame (11-1) on Friday night (8 p.m, ESPN, ESPN) in South Bend (IN).
