Kyle Schwarber made history Thursday, August 28 by hitting four home runs in the game versus the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park. He was the 21st player in baseball history to achieve the feat and fourth in Philadelphia Phillies history.

Schwarber was 4 for 6 with a Phillies-record nine RBIs in the 19-4 victory over the Atlanta Braves.

Mike Schmidt was the last Philadelphia player to hit four homers in a game, doing at the Chicago Cubs in April 1976.

"“It’s pretty cool,” Schwarber said. “It was a fun night, great atmosphere. Wouldn’t want to do it with a better group of guys than we have here.”"

Former Indiana Hoosier, Kyle Schwarber was a two-time first-team All-American in his three seasons at Indiana. He hit .341 in his 180 career games, with 238 hits, including 40 home runs.

He led the Hoosiers to two Big Ten regular season and tournament championships and took Indiana to their first ever College World Series in the 2013 season. Schwarber was drafted 4th overall by the Chicago Cubs in the 2014 MLB Draft and has one of the most decorated professional careers in the past decade. Schwarber, is three-time All-Star (2021, 2022, 2025), National League home run leader (2022), All-Star Game MVP (2025) and World Series Champion (2016).

Kyle Schwarber is one of the most accomplished baseball players in Indiana history and you can make the argument he will go down as the greatest Indiana Hoosiers baseball player in school history.

Kyle Schwarber has gotten National Leauge Most Valuable Player votes in each of the past two seasons for the Phillies, but this season is the first time he’s the odds on favorites for the award. He took the outright National League homer lead with a career-high 49 and moved within one of Seattle's Cal Raleigh for the major league lead. Schwarber leads the majors with a career-high 119 RBIs. Last seasons MVP and the best player in baseball, L.A Dodgers’ Shohei Ohtani but trails him 7 HR's and 24 RBI's.

Schwarber also wrote his name in baseball history earlier this season, dinging three home runs on three pitches to give the National League a victory in the first ever All Star Game swing-off.

The 32-year-old Schwarber has 333 homers in 11 seasons in the majors with the Cubs and the Phillies. His previous career high was 47 in 2023 for Philadelphia.

You can watch Schwarber's next at bats with the Phillies when they take on the Atlanta Braves tonight at 6:45.
