Kurtis Rourke could be the first Indiana quarterback selected in NFL Draft in a while

Indiana has not had a lot of quarterbacks taken in the NFL Draft.

The Indiana Hoosiers have not had a lot of quarterbacks taken in the NFL Draft, only eight to be exact. The last time a Hoosier quarterback was taken in the NFL Draft was back in 2016, just to add some context, in 1016, the iPhone 7 was the latest model Apple had released, and they are currently on the iPhone 16.

Indiana has truly always been known as a basketball school, but this season, with first-year head coach Curt Cignetti leading the way, it seems like the Hoosiers became a football school. Cignetti led this team to an 11-2 season, their best in program history, but it wasn't all because of him.

The players on the field played incredibly hard, all led by quarterback Kurtis Rourke. Rourke is out of college eligibility now, and after such an amazing season, he is heading to the 2025 NFL Draft. Rourke is ranked on Mel Kiper's quarterback board as the No. 10 quarterback in the draft, but Rourke has always been one to overcome the odds.

If Rourke is selected in the draft, he would be the first Indiana quarterback since Nate Sudfeld to be taken by an NFL team. Technically, some people want to give Michael Penix Jr. that title, but he was drafted after playing his final season at Washington, so that is the college he represents in the NFL.

Rourke will have a tough ride ahead of him going into the draft as he is currently recovering from yet another ACL surgery after it came out that he played the entire season with a re-torn ACL. That doesn't seem to be stopping him though.

Right now Rourke is projected to go in the later round of the draft, or potentially even as an undrafted free agent.
