The top 10 head coaches in college football per Pro Football Focus
1. Kirby Smart, Georgia
2. Ryan Day, Ohio State
3. Dabo Swinney, Clemson
4. Dan Lanning, Oregon
5. Marcus Freeman, Notre Dame
6. Steve Sarkisian, Texas
7. Kalen DeBoer, Alabama
8. James Franklin, Penn State
9. Brian Kelly, LSU
10. Curt Cignetti, Indiana
"Cignetti was a relatively unknown commodity entering the season but is now a top-10 head coach in college football due to his magical year in Bloomington. In his first season at Indiana, the Hoosiers won 11 games and made the College Football Playoff. That was two wins more than Indiana’s previous program record, and it went just 9-27 in the three years before Cignetti took over. Before he took over there, he led James Madison to an incredible 19-4 record during its first two seasons as an FBS program. With plenty of star power returning, the Hoosiers have a chance to crash the playoff once again. " - PFF's Max Chadwick on Cignetti's success at IU
He’s proven he can make a quick impact like he did previously at Elon and James Madison. With talented players on both sides of the ball and an veteran coaching staff the Hoosiers have a bright future ahead. Indiana will look to keep growing, while Cignetti continues to build a well-earned reputation among college football’s best in 2025 and beyond.
Cignetti and the Hoosiers will be in action when they host Old Dominion on Saturday, August 30. Kickoff is set for Noon eastern time.
