Roman Hemby spent four seasons at Maryland, before transferring to Indiana this off-season. Hemby led the Terrapins in 2024 in carries (134), rushing yards (607) and touchdown runs (six). He also caught 40 passes for 273 yards and receiving touchdown.
In four seasons at Maryland, Roman Hemby scored 22 touchdowns, ran for 2,347 yards while also catching 112 passes for 921 passing yards and five touchdowns. Hemby is eighth all-time in Maryland school history with 22 career rush TD's, 12th on the career rushing yards list, and he’s tied for fourth in total TD's (27).
His only 100-yard game in 2024 came against the Hoosiers on Sept. 28 when he rushed 10 times for 117 yards in Indiana's 42-28 win in Bloomington versus Indiana.
Hemby figures to have a prominent role in the Indiana running back rotation with Kaelon Black and Lee Beebe Jr, after losing senior running backs Justice Ellison and Ty Son Lawton last season.
The National Selection Committee includes past award recipients, former NFL All-Pros, college All-America running backs, media members and other representatives.
The PwC SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will name ten semifinalists in November, and three finalists will be announced in November. The recipient of the 2025 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on The Home Depot College Football Awards on December 12, 2024.
