On Thursday, Julian “JuJu” Lewis a five-star prospect announced his verbal committed to the Buffaloes and head coach Deion Sanders. Indiana missed out on the big time recruit, but Lewis was a long shot to land with the Hoosiers.

Lewis, who plays for Carrollton High School in Georgia, previously committed to play at Southern California but continued to take recruiting visits to other campuses, including Colorado, Georgia and Indiana. He recently backed off his pledge to USC and selected the Buffaloes before the start of the early signing period for recruits on Dec. 4.

Julian Lewis made the announcement on the Pat McAfee Show at 12:30pm ET today on ESPN and had this to say about his commitment to Colorado and Deion Sanders.

"Of course it was big for me, just coming in after Shedeur Sanders, just seeing what he's done to Colorado and what he's turned it into," Lewis said. "It's definitely a blessing, getting put in this position, coming after him and his dad Deion Sanders, I couldn't beat it."

"Coach Prime's always said the best man's going to play, and that's really what I wanted — to be able to come in and compete, start as a freshman," Lewis said. "I wouldn't have much fun sitting on the bench, so I want to come in somewhere I can get a chance to play. So he's going to let me compete for that. That was big for me." per Pat McAfee Show

Julian Lewis had reportedly scheduled visits to Indiana over the last month but cancelled both and took this month to de-commit from the USC Trojans. All those signs pointed to Lewis committing to Boulder, Colorado and that's ultimately where he landed as he will enroll in the 2025 recruiting class.

Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti will likely look for a transfer during the offseason to compete for the starting job in 2025 with Tayven Jackson and Tyler Cherry. After the success senior transfer Kurtis Rourke has had this season, there should be plenty of interest from veteran quarterbacks across the college football in the transfer portal.
