Indiana had a great 2024 season that unfortunately ended in disappointment as the Hoosiers weren't able to keep up with a high-flying Notre Dame team in the College Football Playoff. The Fighting Irish were able to shut down the offense of Indiana, and the Hoosier defense wasn't able to get stops when they needed to most.
Heading into the 2025 season, Indiana will need to build up their defense if they want to continue to hang around with the big teams in the Big Ten, like Ohio State, Penn State, and Oregon.
The Hoosiers have already brought in a multitude of players from the portal, from safety Louis Moore from Ole Miss to quarterback Fernando Mendoza from Cal. However, Indiana could use a few more big names out of the portal on the defensive side of the ball, and the good news is that they are hosting one player out of the portal that could be a big addition to the team.
Indiana is set to host three-star transfer portal defensive back out of Tennessee Christian Harrison, who just played his sophomore season with the Volunteers, who also had a College Football Playoff appearance this season.
Indiana does have some competition with Harrison visiting Texas A&M before he heads to Bloomington and then potentially heading to Ole Miss and Cincinnati for other visits, but those are still pending.
Harrison, who is the son of legendary NFL safety Rodney Harrison, has played in 24 games at Tennessee with four starts. In three seasons with the Volunteers, Harrison had 31 total tackles, 19 solo tackles, one pass defended, and 0.5 sacks. His best season came this past year in 2024 with 20 total tackles, 12 solo tackles, one pass defended, and 0.5 sacks.
The Hoosiers could really use the help on the defensive side of the ball, especially if they want to compete with a team like Ohio State next year or even a team like Notre Dame.
