Indiana men's basketball makes cut for five-star forward from 2026 class

Five-star small forward Anthony Thompson has cut his list of schools down to seven, including the Indiana Hoosiers, he announced on Thursday.

Thompson other six schools include: Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue, and Texas.

Thompson averaged 15.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.8 blocks and 1.3 steals as a sophomore for Lebanon. The Ohio native now attends Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.

According to the latest 247Sports Composite rankings, Thompson is the No. 8 overall prospect in the nation, No. 2 small forward and the top player in the state of Ohio for the class of 2026.

Thompson is ranked as the No. 8 overall player in the nation, according to the Rivals Industry Ranking. He’s also the No. 3-ranked small forward and the No. 1 player in Ohio.

For the Indiana Elite this spring and summer, Thompson has been one of the top scorers on the Adidas circuit. He averaged 22.8 points to go with 5.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game.

The 6-foot-8 and 205-pound Thompson also talked about what he wants to work on this off-season and his senior season.

“I want to build a lot of skill, and just get a lot better before college,” Thompson told The Daily Hoosier of the transfer prior to his junior year.  “I want to use it as a tool to get ready and prepare for college so that by the time I get there I’ll be ready for all aspects of my game.”

Thompson has completed unofficial visits to Indiana, Michigan, Ohio State, and Kentucky but no timetable has been set on his commitment date.
