Indiana makes history twice within 24 hours with College Football Playoff seed

The Indiana Hoosiers knew their CFP fate after winning the Big Ten Championship, but it is set in stone.

There is no better thing to be right now than an Indiana Hoosiers fan. Not only did Indiana beat Ohio State for the first time since 1988, but they did it in the Big Ten Championship game, a game they had never played in. The last time Indiana one the Big Ten was in 1967, so history was made in the late hours of Saturday night.

Now, on Sunday afternoon, the Hoosiers have made history again by being named the No. 1 team in the country in the AP poll, the Coaches Poll, and the College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers have never been ranked No. 1 in program history, and now they are the 1-seed heading into the playoff set to have a first-round bye.

So Indiana was able to make history multiple times in the span of 24 hours, as this team is looking like the best team in the country. With the win last night, Indiana is also the only undefeated team in the country.

Indiana's road to the National Championship could be a little complicated

As the No. 1 team in the College Football Playoff, Indiana should theoretically have the easiest path to the National Championship; however, with the number of elite teams, no path is easy right now. If all the higher-seeded teams were to win in the CFP, Indiana would be set for a matchup with No. 4 Texas Tech in the semifinals.

The Hoosiers have a chance to face any of the top four teams, which would be tough matchups. The good thing is that if Indiana can take down Ohio State, they have a chance to go toe-to-toe with any team in the country right now.

Indiana will have roughly three weeks off before it plays another game, so Curt Cignetti will have to make sure he can get his team right in the mind to compete.
