Indiana lands three-star safety Jamar Owens in 2026 recruiting class

According to the industry average, Owens is the No. 70 safety in the 2026 class.

Another intriguing defensive prospect has joined the Indiana Hoosiers 2026 recruiting class.

Peach state native and three-star safety Jamar Owens has committed to the Hoosiers, he announced via social media.

The 6-foot and 180-pound Owens attends Jonesboro High School in Douglasville, Georgia.  Owens had 70 tackles including three for loss, three interceptions and two forced fumbles as a junior in 2024.

Owens’ other top offers included Texas A&M, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon, Auburn, Texas, Florida State, USC, Mississippi State, N.C. State, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Pittsburgh, SMU, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, West Virginia, Arkansas State, Central Michigan, Charlotte, Georgia Southern, Georgia State, Memphis, Miami (OH), South Florida, Troy, Tulane, UAB, UConn, UMass, Western Michigan, Bethune-Cookman, Georgia Tech and others.

Owens is rated as a 3-star in the 247Sports Composite and ranks as the 837th best overall prospect, 71st best safety and 95th best prospect in the state of Georgia.

“Coach Haines is a coach that I trust with everything,” Owens said. “He is a great guy, he is a great coach and he has a big plan for me in the defense. We talked a lot and went over a lot of things. He believes in my ability, he feels I can compete for a spot on the field right away and I am excited to play for him.”
