Answer: 1987

It has been a while since the Hoosiers have been to the mountain-top, but they have been back to the big game since. In 2002, The Hoosiers as a 5-seed made it to the National Championship, but fell to the 1-seed Maryland Terrapins.

The Hoosiers hope to make it back to the National Championship soon and finish it all on top of the mountain.

2. During the 2020 football season, the Indiana Hoosiers defeated which top-10 ranked Big Ten rival in a dramatic overtime game?

Answer: Penn State

Before the 2024 season, Indiana football was always a season that held fans over until basketball season. However, in 2020, the Hoosiers shocked the college football world and took down a Penn State team ranked No. 8 in the country.

It was a close one till the end as it went to overtime and the Hoosiers won it on a walk-off 2-point conversion. Penn State got the ball first in overtime and scored a touchdown and kicked the extra point. However, on their possession, when Indiana scored a touchdown, they went for two and got it, winning the game 36-35 in dramatic fashion.

3. Which former Indiana Hoosier won the 1981 NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player award after leading the team to a national championship?

Answer: Isiah Thomas

Isiah Thomas goes down as one of the best players in Indiana basketball history. In his two seasons with Indiana, Thomas averaged 15.4 points per game and 34.5 minutes on the court. He shot 53.4% from the floor and helped lead Indiana to their 1981 National Championship.

4. As of 2024, how many NCAA championships has the Indiana Hoosiers men's soccer team won?

Answer: 8

Indiana is best known for their success on the basketball court and their five basketball National Championships, but clearly soccer is where they are the most successful. It has been a while since they won a soccer National Championship with their last one coming back in 2012.

The Hoosiers won their first soccer National Championship back in 1982 and went back-to-back in 1983. Indiana followed those championships with ones in 1988, 1998, 1999, 2003, and 2004.

5. In the 2022-2023 season, the Indiana Hoosiers women's basketball team achieved which historic milestone for the first time in program history?

Answer: No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament

The Hoosiers made history as the first women's basketball team to become a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament, but they unfortunately weren't able to ride that high.

The Hoosiers faced 16-seed Tennessee Tech in the first round, but were upset in the second round by 9-seed Miami. Indiana did reach the tournament in the following season and made it all the way to the Sweet 16, where they faced and lost to the eventual National Champion South Carolina Gamecocks.
