Indiana veteran pitcher Ben Grable, was selected 344th overall in the 11th round by the New York Yankees in the 2025 MLB Draft. The Pasadena, California, native spent the last two seasons at Indiana after beginning his collegiate career with Northwestern.
Grable is the fourth player in Hoosier program history picked by the New York Yankees and the first since Grant Richardson (17-513) in 2021.
After recovering from season-ending surgery in 2024, Grable became a huge part of the Indiana pitching staff in his final season of college baseball. He had a 4.31 earned run average across 17 appearances and 56.1 innings of action. He thrived in pounding the zone with 65 strikeouts to just 17 walks.

Grable wasn’t listed among Baseball America’s Top 500 draft prospects this year, but he did appear at No. 441 in 2023 (though he was not taken that year).
Over the last two seasons, the Hoosiers have had 10 players selected in the MLB Draft. It’s the first time the program has had at least four draft picks in consecutive seasons since 2018 and 2019. In the history of the draft, the Hoosiers have now had 117 unique players selected. 30 of those have come in the Jeff Mercer era (since 2019).
