Last month, Jacob Savage of Union, Kentucky released his top seven schools which included Indiana. Jacob Savage has now announced his pledge to the Hoosiers making the announcement on Friday evening.

"Their defensive scheme is built around linebackers," Savage told WCPO.com "Their linebackers play like how I play. I feel like I will be extremely successful and I can really maximize my abilities as a football player."

Savage made the announcement in front of friends, family and teammates in the Ryle Media Center.

The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Savage took multiple visits to Bloomington, Indiana over the last few months but ultimately chose the Hoosiers over finalists Purdue, Louisville, Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Michigan State and Minnesota.

Savage ranks as the No. 48 linebacker in 247Sports' rankings for the 2026 class. Savage ranks as the No. 5 player from Kentucky and No. 585 overall prospect in 247Sports' composite rankings.

According to the On3 industry average, Savage is a 3-star recruit, the No. 963 overall player in the class, and the No. 79 linebacker.

The three-star inside linebacker had 141 tackles, 17 tackles for loss, three sacks, and an interception, winning a 6A state title all during his junior season. On offense at running back, Savage ran for 1,085 yards and 22 touchdowns, according to the Kentucky High School Athletic Association statistics. He also had 29 receptions for 313 yards and four touchdowns.

"I think he is the No. 1 player in the state of Kentucky," his head coach Mike Engler said. "When he's at full speed, I think the sky is the limit."

Savage joins interior offensive lineman Sam Simpson, cornerback Kasmir Hicks and running back/linebacker Henry Ohlinger as the 2026 recruits that have committed to Indiana.
