With the college basketball regular season coming to an end and March Madness around the corner it's time to start deeply looking into the 2025 NBA Draft this upcoming summer.
The 2025 NBA trade deadline has also passed and we are just a few days away from NBA All-Star Weekend so what better time than to check out what Indiana Hoosiers are featured in the newly updated mock drafts.
In a recent mock draft from Michael Saenz, the site expert at Sir Charles in Charge Mackenzie Mgbako, a sophomore forward from Indiana is projected to go in round one of the 2025 NBA Draft.
Orlando Magic (via DEN) - Mackenzie Mgbako, F, Indiana (24th overall)
"With their second pick in the lottery, the Orlando Magic could look to add to their wing depth. After taking a guard with their earlier pick in the draft, taking a player that could help behind the likes of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero would be smart - especially considering this team has struggled with injuries to their two stars this season. One potential player that could make sense for the Magic at this point in the first round is Mackenzie Mgbako. Not a prospect that has gained plenty of traction yet, the Indiana product could end up making a move up draft boards over the next month."Michael Saenz
Mgbako has averaged 18.2 points and six rebounds, and has shot 52.2% from the field in the last five games. He’s averaged one more two-point shot per game than 3-point shot. Mgbako has also been one of the best free throw shooters in the nation, with a 91.7% FT percentage.
For his sophomore season with the Hoosiers, Mgbako is averaging 13.3 points and five rebounds on 47 percent shooting from the field and 36 percent shooting from 3-point range.
Mgbako could be a worthy gamble for a team like the Magic at this point in the first round - especially if they're preparing to move on from a player like Jonathan Isaac at some point in the next couple of years." stated Michael Saenz
The Hoosiers have seven games for the remainder of the regular season and then will play in the Big Ten Conference tournament. It remains to be seen if the 14-10 Indiana men's basketball team will make any post-season tournaments.
Some important dates to keep in mind between now and the end of the summer are: June 14th-21st (the NBA Draft Combine), June 22nd (the NBA Draft Lottery), and July 25th (the first round of the NBA Draft and the second round starting on July 26th.
