Marcus Burris Jr transferred to Indiana after starting his career in College Station, Texas at Texas A&M. He suffered a torn Achilles injury in his freshman season and redshirted before heading to Indiana.
The Texarkana, Texas native was the No. 137th overall player in the nation and No. 24 prospect in the state of Texas according to 247Sports Composite
A former 4-star high school recruit Burris Jr, signed with Tom Allen's staff in 2023 and the sophomore edge rusher played in all 12 games with eight starts in 2023.
The 6-foot-5 and 285-pound Burris appeared in all 13 games with three starts under the new regime with head coach Curt Cignetti and defensive coordinator Bryant Haines. Burris had 34 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and two sacks last season and was expected to compete for the full time starting role in 2025-26.
Here is a scouting report on Burris Jr from 2022 from 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks
"Burris plays with good extension and disengages to make plays against the run. Solid, physical tackler who finishes plays. Gets hands up to affect passing lanes. Pursuit speed improved as a junior. Can improve balance and body control. Needs to expand move set as a rusher. Naturally high center of gravity compromises leverage consistency. Can improve explosiveness at the snap. Often dominates overmatched O-linemen, but equal strength/power can neutralize him at the point of attack."
Harrison played on 21 snaps in Bloomington last season and was buried on the depth chart for Indiana as an interior defensive lineman. Indiana brought in Hosea Wheeler from Western Kentucky, and Dominique Ratcliff from Texas State to replace James Carpenter and CJ West on the interior.
Harrison started his career at Arizona State, appearing in 10 games over two seasons with the Sun Devils.
The six foot-four, 311 pound defensive tackle was rated as a three-star recruit coming out of high school. Harrison was the No. 21 player from the state of South Carolina and No. 176 as far as defensive lineman in the class.
Indiana takes on Old Dominion week one of the regular season at home on August 30th.
