The Indiana Hoosiers are National Champions for the first time ever in football. This is a feeling that the Hoosiers are very familiar with when it comes to basketball, but some thought this would never happen for Indiana.
Before Curt Cignetti became the head coach two years ago, Indiana was quite literally the worst college football program in the country, with the most losses in college football history. In just two seasons, Cignetti has completely turned things around, losing just two games in that span and becoming the first 16-0 team in college football in quite some time.
Cignetti, after the game, was asked how he would celebrate the win, and of course, being the football lover that he is, he is already thinking about next season. Vegas oddsmakers are also thinking about the 2026 football season with their way-too-early odds for the National Championship winners.

The Hoosiers will go through a lot of changes this offseason, the biggest is losing Heisman Trophy winner Fernando Mendoza, but Cignetti already has a fix for that. The Hoosiers have brought in former TCU quarterback Josh Hoover, who was a top QB in the Transfer Portal this offseason. Cignetti worked hard in the portal, even while preparing for the National Championship.
Indiana is poised to do this all again next season, but there is a lot of time to speculate on all of that. Right now, Indiana is going to enjoy this while it can. Parties will be going on in Bloomington for quite some time.
