Indiana Hoosiers defensive coordinator Bryant Haines is one of 63 nominations for the Broyles Award, which is given to the top assistant coach in college football.
The 63 nominees in this year’s class were selected from approximately 1,500 assistant coaches representing 131 FBS programs across the country. This is the largest group of nominees in the history of the Broyles Award.
Bryant Haines is now a three-time Broyles Award semifinalist, three straight seasons under Indiana head coach Curt Cignetti (2x with Indiana and once with James Madison).
The Indiana defense is one of the best in the nation, ranking in the top five in scoring defense, total defense, and rushing defense, IU only allows 11.6 points per game.
Haines is one of the highest-paid defensive coordinators in the country at Indiana with a starting salary of $2 million per season. Only nine assistant coaches in the country are making over 2 million a season.
