Indiana basketball probably won't see their leading scorer on the court anytime soon

There is no injury timeline for Malik Reneau at this time.

Indiana has now basically two full games without Malik Reneau since he got hurt in the first 30 seconds of the Hoosier's matchup against Rutgers last week. The good news is that Indiana was able to find a way to win both of those games without Reneau. The bad news is it seems like he won't be back on the court for the Hoosiers for a while.

After Indiana's 77-71 win over Penn State on Sunday, head coach Mike Woodson spoke to the media and gave an update on Reneau's injury.

"Don't know when he's gonna be back, it's kind of in (the medical staff's) hands." Woodson said in his postgame press conference. "I mean, he didn't tear up anything, but don't know when he's gonna come back, I really don't. I just gotta follow the doctor's lead, and he's gotta do what he needs to do to get back when he can, but it won't be anytime soon."

Reneau was on the court for less than 30 seconds against Rutgers before he went down with what looked like a knee injury, and it was announced later as just a lower-body injury, and he would not return to the game. He collided with teammate Luke Goode and fell to the floor holding his knee. Reneau was seen sitting on the bench for the rest of the game in his warm-ups cheering on the team to their victory over Rutgers.

Woodson was able to give a good update, saying that the medical informed him that Reneau did not suffer any structural damage.

With the absence of Reneau, the rest of the team has certainly stepped up, with Myles Rice leading the team in scoring against Rutgers and Oumar BAllo leading the team against Penn State. Until Reneau is able to get back on the court for the Hoosiers, other players will need to step up and take a load for the team.
