Off the momentum of three straight wins in Cary, North Carolina, this weekend, the Indiana baseball team was set up for their home opener in Bloomington as they faced the Xavier Musketeers for the second time this season.

They are coming off a big weekend offensively, where they scored 14 and 15 points in their first two games and then pulled off a walk-off win over Northwestern, it felt like the Hoosiers were heading in the right direction. After a tough start to the season, an undefeated weekend was just what Indiana wanted, especially going into a weekday matchup.

However, things didn't end so well for the Hoosiers as they dropped their game against Xavier 8-4 in a game that was plagued by three errors. Xavier was ready from the start, hitting two home runs in the first inning that totaled three runs. Luckily first baseman Jack Hanley brought in a run with an RBI double in the bottom of the first to make it 3-1. Hanley has had a hit in all eight of Indiana's games this season.

There wasn't another score till the fifth inning when the errors began for Indiana. The Musketeers luckily only scored one run to push their lead from two to three, but Indiana had a response in the bottom of the inning. Two home runs from Devin Taylor and Korbyn Dickerson tied the game for the Hoosiers.

However, Indiana wouldn't score again for the rest of the game as Xavier still had four more runs in their system, scoring off of Indiana miscues yet again. Of the eight runs that Xavier scored, only four od them were charges as earned runs to the pitching staff.

The Hoosiers have a quick turnaround as they make the long trip down to sunny Florida this weekend to take on Mount St. Mary's and Stetson in DeLand, Florida.
