It is Opening Day for Indiana baseball and the Hoosiers made the cross country trip to Surprise, Arizona to participate in the Sanderson Ford College Baseball Classic. Indiana baseball has had back-to-back appearances in the regionals in the NCAA Baseball Tournament, but now they are ready to make a move into the Super Regionals.
During this four-day classic, Indiana will face three teams in four days as they will take on UNLV twice, Xavier, and No. 7 Oregon State. The Hoosiers will then return home next week for their home opener against Purdue Fort Wayne.
Indiana returns six players this season who all started 40+ games in 2024, led by Preseason All-American Devin Taylor, who is a potential first-round pick in the next MLB Draft. Taylor smashed 20 home runs last season and boasted a team-leading .357 average at the plate.
Pitching will be the talk of this team as the Hoosiers lost both Ty Bothwell and Connor Foley, but brought in talent with Gavin Seebold from Southern Indiana, Cole Gilley from Indiana State, and Jackson Yarberry from St. Louis.
