Indiana extended an offer to 2027 in-state forward Jaylan Mitchell on Tuesday.
The 6-foot-8 Indiana native, Mitchell is considered a top-five player nationally in the 2027 class according to On3, Rivals and 247Sports
He is rated as a five-star recruit and ranked as the No. 4 player in the class of 2027. He is also the No. 4 power forward in the country and the best player coming out of Indiana per ESPN.
He was also named to Max Preps’ Freshman All-American team. Mitchell averaged 15.6 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals per game, for Reitz High School in Evansville (IN) last season.
Along with Indiana, Mitchell also holds offers from Arizona State, Illinois, Missouri, TCU, Maryland and Notre Dame.
Here’s what Rivals wrote about Mitchell after publishing their rankings:
A 6-foot-8 forward out of Evansville, Ind., Mitchell has already played two seasons of high-level grassroots hoops, as he played up with Brad Beal Elite’s EYBL 15U team as a rising eighth grader a year ago and ran with the 16U squad this summer. Mitchell is one of the most well-rounded and physical wings in the class and is able to overpower defenders on his way to the bucket because of his developed frame and quick first step. He’s already an established shot creator and has shown signs of advanced passing.
