It feels weird to say that all the attention is on Indiana football right now while basketball is quietly getting the job done, but it is the truth. Football has taken over in Bloomington, but that doesn't mean basketball isn't doing great things as well.
In his first season with the Hoosiers, head coach Darian DeVries has found slid success so far, but the last two games have been a bit of a struggle. Indiana has now lost back-to-back games against Minnesota in the Big Ten opener and now No. 6 Louisville. The Hoosiers can't afford to continue dropping games like this, not in a competitive Big Ten conference.
Those two losses have dropped the Hoosiers out of the latest AP Top 25 rankings, but they are still receiving some votes, so a few big wins could get them back into the rankings.
The Hoosiers will now face Penn State, a team that is 8-1 and probably not getting as much attention as its record may warrant. This will be the first game in the Big Ten, though for Penn State, so they are about to face a lot tougher competition.
Indiana's balanced attack of Tucker DeVries and Jamar Wilkerson will be the key to the Hoosiers' success, not just against Penn State, but going forward. DeVries is the leading scorer for Indiana with 17.8 points, and Wilkerson isn't far behind with 16.0. Indiana is averaging 85.4 points per game, which is a huge step up from last season.
