The North Carolina Tar Heels had a down year to say the least in the 2024-25 season going 23-14. North Carolina won their play in game versus San Diego State 96-68, but went down to the No. 6 seed Ole Miss Rebels 71-64.

The No. 11 seeded North Carolina Tar Heels went 23-14 overall and13-7 in the ACC. They were last in defense over the past two months in the ACC in team scoring defense and lacked rebounding in their front court, so the transfer portal is huge for head coach Hubert Davis this off-season.

UNC has targeted former Indiana forward Malik Reneau and are in talks with him as of Tuesday night according to his agent Adam Godes.

This past season, in 2024-25 Malik Reneau averaged 13.3 points and 5.5 rebounds per game while shooting 55.2 percent from the field. The junior forward has been a starter at forward for Indiana for the last two seasons.

Per Keeping It Heel : "Reneau is certainly a guy to keep an eye on, as he is a veteran player who has been one of the best forwards in a very competitive conference for each of the last two seasons. Based on his resume, the UNC basketball program won't be alone in potentially trying to add this talented forward to their roster for the 2025-2026 season."
