Former Indiana Women's Soccer MF, Signs Professional Contract With Fortuna Hjørring

Former Indiana Hoosier star midfielder Sydney Masur has signed a professional contract with Fortuna Hjørring in Hjørring, Denmark.

Sydney Masur will join the Danish women’s soccer in the Elite divisionen this 2025 season.

“Playing at the highest level of college soccer has been an incredible experience, and I know I wouldn’t have this opportunity to play professionally without IU,” Masur said in an Indiana Athletics release Monday.

In her four seasons with the Hoosiers, Masur played in 68 games, making 56 career starts and totaling over 4,500 minutes on the pitch while helping the team to the NCAA Tournament in 2023. She scored three goals, three assists for five points in her career and earned All-Big Ten freshman team honors in 2021. The Montclair, New Jersey native was a two-time College Sport Communicators Academic All-District and two-time All-Big Ten Academic honoree during her collegiate career per Indiana Athletics

Indiana women's soccer recently mutually parted ways with former head coach Erwin van Bennekom as he decided to “pursue a different opportunity,” according to an Indiana Athletics press release

Van Bennekom was named head coach at Indiana on Dec. 4, 2018, and spent six seasons with the Hoosiers where he had a 44-39-20 record, including a NCAA tournament appearance in 2023.
