In a recent appearance on Jeff Teague‘s podcast, theClub 520 Podcast (YouTube link), former Indiana Hoosiers legend and NBA 11-year veteran Eric Gordon opened up about why he wanted to end up in Philadelphia. Furthermore, he explained why he feels the 76ers can “do something special this year.”

“I wanted a chance to win, and Philly felt like the right spot. I’m familiar with their front office, Daryl Morey and them, and I looked at their team, and it’s like, man, they got Maxey, who’s really evolved. Embiid, obviously, is one of the best players in the world. Then you got Kelly Oubre and Caleb Martin, and you’re looking at a team that could really have a shot. And then you got me, to knock down shots and help create when those guys are creating. It’s a great situation, man. We have all the pieces to do something special this year.”

Last season, he averaged 11 points , 2 assists and 1 steal per game while shooting 44.3% from the field and 37.8% from the three-point line.

With the addition of future NBA hall of famer and all-star Paul George along with the signing of Caleb Martin, Kelly Oubre they have a legit shot to get to the Eastern conference finals and possibly win a NBA championship. They also drafted Jared McCain who has a similar type game to 11 veteran Eric Gordon.

Gordon is an accurate shooter from beyond the arc, but what makes him a special shooter is the volume with which he can launch. Gordon is truly comfortable firing away from any spot on the floor, versus any sort of defense or contest, in any game situation.

Head coach Nick Nurse should maximize Gordon's minutes alongside Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Joel Embiid -- the veteran shooting guard is tailor made to make life easier on star players with his instant offense and defense on the arc.
